Runners of all levels and abilities can greatly benefit from yoga, beyond just stretching and increasing flexibility.
Join us for a special 2-hour all-levels practice designed to sharpen the mind, strengthen the body, improve balance, prevent injury, and release common areas of tension for runners.
If there is one thing that runners do particularly well is breathing & breath control. We will use this strength in guided meditation and breath work (pranayama). This will help improve mental focus and enhance athletic performance by training the body and mind to work together more efficiently.
We’ll begin with the application of the breath which will guide us through a dynamic flow focusing on the opening of the hips, chest, & hamstrings. We will also work through standing poses that target muscle groups specific for runners, increase balance, & foot dexterity. Class will close with supported, longer-held poses to lengthen and release tight spots, and a deeply restful savasana. Hands-on support will be provided throughout.
